How do I know if membership right for me?
Membership in 100+ Women Who Care – Madison is for you if:
- You find yourself short on time to volunteer but you truly want to help those in need in our local community;
- You can attend a one-hour meeting every three months;
- You want 100% of your donations to go directly to a local charity;
- You want your generous donation to become a part of a large amount of money by joining together with other women—creating a powerful impact in our local area
To participate, join here – we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
How does it work?
Three local 501(c)(3) charities that serve Dane County or southern Wisconsin are selected by members to present at each meeting. A representative from each charity has five minutes to present their organization and answer questions from the attending members. A vote is held and the winning charity is revealed before the end of the meeting. That charity receives $10,000 in unrestricted grant funding, and the other two charities presenting at the meeting receive an equal split of the remaining funds. At the next meeting, a representative of the winning charity speaks to the members about the impact their gift has made toward helping that charity fulfill its vision and goals.
Are different donation levels available?
Champions automatically allocate half, or $100, of their donation each quarter to the Impact Award winner. Once per year, Champions will have the choice to donate the second half of their donation as they choose. Options include:
- Donating $100 to the quarterly Impact Award winner and $50 to each of the other two presenting charities.
- Donating $100 to the quarterly Impact Award winner, $25 to each of the other two presenting charities, and supporting 100+ Women Who Care – Madison, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, with a $50 donation.
Simply email membership@100womenmadison.org with your allocation selection.
How do I change my membership donation level?
We understand that each person may have a different ability to donate, so members will be able to easily change their Leader membership to either Champion or Friend levels. To request a different member type, please send an email with your preferences to membership@100womenmadison.org.
Are team memberships available?
Only individual memberships are offered at this time to allow for everyone’s full participation in 100+ Women Who Care. Team membership doesn’t allow for every woman’s voice to be heard equally. When everyone is an individual member, each person can nominate and vote for deserving local charities without compromise. This allows full attention to be placed on charity nominations, voting and donations. Multiple donation level options are available.
How do I pay for membership?
When and where are the meetings?
The meetings are usually held quarterly at locations in the Madison area. The links to register for each meeting can be found on the website homepage and in our Facebook posts.
Can I bring a guest to the meeting?
Feel free to bring friends, family or colleagues to attend any meeting as a guest. Guests are not eligible to vote IF they become a member the night of the meeting prior to the vote. Regardless, they may choose to donate to any of the charities present.
How do I nominate a charity?
How do I submit my donation?
If you have not received an electronic invoice, please send your check, payable to 100+ Women Who Care – Madison, to PO Box 5561, Madison, WI 53705.
Where does my donation go?
All donations will be given to non-profits and charities serving Dane County. National charities will be considered through local branches eligible for consideration if the contributions will be used here. The purpose is for 100% of the contribution to stay in Dane County.
What if I didn’t vote for the charity that wins?
Members agree to make their donations quarterly regardless of the charity chosen by popular vote of the membership. $10,000 in unrestricted grant funding is given to the winning charity, and the other two charities presenting at the meeting receive an equal split of the remaining funds.
How can I drop my membership?
We hate to see you go! But we understand that circumstances are sometimes beyond everyone’s control. Simply send an email to membership@100womenmadison.org with your intentions to discontinue your membership. If there is a reason for discontinuing your membership, we would love a chance to talk with you about it so we can work to remedy any issues.
